In their History lessons, Year 6 have been trying to answer the question, "Which had a bigger impact upon the North West of England: World War 1, or World War 2?" and enriched their learning by visiting the Air Raid shelters in Stockport. This involved us navigating 1 mile of underground tunnels which served to protect the people of the North West during the Manchester Blitz. We also had a fantastic session with two Air Raid Wardens, where we were able to sound the alarm for an air raid, practice tasks evacuees would have had to do around the home, and even examine an unexploded bomb! We had a fantastic day and it really allowed our learning to come alive!
