The Dolphins are a mixed age group class of Year 1 and Year 2 children. This is a very busy classroom with two curriculums being taught at the same time. Careful planning and organisation allows us to get through both curriculums whilst maintaining a calm, challenging and fun working environment. Year 2 children are given extra responsibility and classroom duties to help prepare them for their move to Year 3 next year.

The Dolphins also use our Discovery Zone up to three times a week where they learn through explorative play. Different levels of challenge are provided to engage and motivate the children whilst allowing them to develop their skills in resilience, teamwork, communication and independence.

Reading at Home

It is important that children continue to practise their reading skills on a daily basis.  With this in mind you may find the following website useful as a source of colour banded books. Simply select books from the same colour band which your child is reading at home then encourage them to read the book aloud and practise their recall and comprehension skills as you would normally.
