Welcome to the Year 2 "Bears" Class!

Although learning becomes more formal once children reach Year 2, with a full and challenging academic curriculum, we work hard in the Bears to make sure lessons are as fun and engaging as possible.  Explorative play is still valued and we embrace this open-ended style of learning during our weekly visits to the Discovery Zone where children are inspired and encouraged to develop skills such as teamwork, communication and problem solving through continuous provision activities and challenges.  We encourage our children to develop their independence, to take risks in their learning and to build their resilience and 'have a go' attitude in preparation for the impending challenges they will face throughout the year and when they move in to Key Stage 2.

Reading at Home

It is important that children continue to practise their reading skills on a daily basis.  With this in mind you may find the following website useful as a source of colour banded books. Simply select books from the same colour band which your child is reading at home then encourage them to read the book aloud and practise their recall and comprehension skills as you would normally.
