Welcome to Year 5. This is a year full of challenge, discovery and excitement. The children are now some of the older members of the school, and we encourage them to act as role models, showing independence, resilience and responsibility in everything they do.

In maths, we’ll be strengthening our knowledge of place value, fractions, and written methods, whilst also applying our skills to problem-solving and reasoning. Regular practice will help us keep those timestable facts sharp too!

Our curriculum in Year 5 is rich and varied. In history, we’ll be exploring the fascinating world of the Anglo-Saxons and discovering how they shaped life in Britain. In science, we’ll be investigating forces and learning all about Earth and Space – from gravity and air resistance to the planets in our solar system.
