SEND
SEND at Lowercroft Primary School
Every child is welcome here. We work in partnership with families to identify needs early and remove barriers so pupils can learn, play and thrive. Our approach is values-led (Empathy, Respect, Independence, Courage and Curiosity) and follows the SEND Code of Practice using the graduated approach (Assess–Plan–Do–Review) in every class.
How we support your child:
High-quality, inclusive teaching in every lesson, with reasonable adjustments and targeted interventions where needed. SEN Support for pupils who need provision that is additional to or different from their peers.

Working with specialists (e.g., Educational Psychology, therapies) when appropriate. Pupil and parent voice at the heart of planning and reviewing support.
Where needs are more complex, we may discuss requesting an Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment; the local authority decides within 6 weeks whether to assess.
Bury’s SEND Local Offer:
Bury Council’s SEND Local Offer is the single place to find information about services across education, health and social care for children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND, including what’s available, how to access it, and who can help.
Helpful Local Offer pages:
-Families new to SEND – clear starting points and FAQs.
-EHC assessments and plans – what they are and how the process works.
-Short Breaks – opportunities for children and respite for families, plus local providers.
-Independent advice – Bury SENDIASS offers free, impartial support to families (0–25).

If you’re concerned about your child:
Speak to your class teacher—they know your child best. We will involve our SENDCo and begin/refresh the Assess–Plan–Do–Review cycle with you. If more help is needed, we’ll agree next steps together and signpost Local Offer services. We review support regularly, share progress with families, and celebrate every step forward—musical, sporting, academic or social.
