Homework

At Lowercroft, we believe that homework works best when it is little and often, helping children revisit key skills in short, manageable bursts. The following activities form our core homework expectations:

Weekly Homework Expectations

  • Reading – for all year groups, daily if possible, or as often as you can
  • Spelling practice – for all pupils in Key Stage 2
  • Times Tables Rock Stars – regular practice for pupils in Years 2–6 to build rapid recall of multiplication facts

Alongside this, we have launched our new Curiosity Choice Boards. Each half-term, children are offered a range of optional activities linked to their learning across the curriculum. There is no expectation for these activities to be completed, but children are encouraged to take part and any work brought into school may earn a Headteacher Award and a place in our half‑termly raffle draw.

These will be sent home in paper copy near the start of each half-term and can also be found on your child's class page.
