Year 1 (Owls) Class Overview

The Owls class is made up of the youngest Year 1 children, some of whom have only turned 5 when they join us in September, so our year together always starts as a gentle journey, whilst the children are nurtured into a more formal way of learning. We very much concentrate on building independence skills and developing resilience for learning by fostering a “have a go” attitude in everything we do. 
 

We have a huge pride in each and every achievement, no matter how small, as they are all steps on our learning journey. In whatever we do, we encourage a growth mindset and regularly use the motto “I can’t do it …..yet!” We want our children to become creative thinkers and problem solvers who are ready to face the fresh challenges each subsequent year group will bring with enthusiasm and excitement.
