Welcome to Reception

We are delighted to welcome you to Lowercroft Primary School. Our class is filled with kind and happy children who are eager to explore and learn together. We have created a friendly, nuturing environment where every child can thrive and feel supported.

Our curriculum is designed to be both challenging and exciting, ensuring that each day is filled with new adventures and opportunities for growth. We believe in fostering a love of learning from an early age, and our activities are carefully planned to engage young minds and inspire curiosity.

In our class, we celebrate each child's unique strengths and encourage them to develop at their own pace. We emphasize the importance of kindness, respect, and cooperation, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued.

We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with laughter, discovery, and many joyful moments. Welcome to our reception class – where every day is a new beginning and every child is a shining star!

Our Curriculum

Reception at Lowercroft is a happy place to be, where learning is full of fun! Children in the Early Years learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.  We place a strong focus on the children’s personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and their physical development. These are important areas which build the foundations for all other learning.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is made up of seven areas of learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Maths
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

These areas of learning are reflected in our Reception environment. Lots of our learning is linked to, and follows, the children’s interests and there is a balance of child-initiated and adult-led learning. Children explore, create and learn through play and the provision of exciting, stimulating, interactive and accessible resources and opportunities.
